Their method starts by selecting from the winless horses at any given race day. From this selection, they will take note of the horses that are older than three years old but younger than seven years old.

Once they have taken note of this, they will now pick horses that have at least 10 career races and have a winning percentage of at least 20 per cent. After narrowing down the list, they will pick ten horses among this pool. There are even times when successful horse racing betters from Hong Kong list down more than ten to gain more earnings.
Now that they have their desired horses, they will now peg a desired amount of earnings. If one of their horses starts 4/1 and they want to get $100 from it, they will bet $25. When this horse wins, they will take it off the list.
If the horse loses, it owes the better $125. When it races again with a 25/10 start, they will not bet $50 to break even. If the horse incurred a string of bad fortune, it is also taken off the list. If one of the listed horses is injured, it is crossed out as well.
The horses that were crossed out can be replaced with other qualified horses. And since this tactic has served them well, successful Hong Kong horse racing betters continue with this system until they have earned their target.
